A BID for the Las Vegas Arts District

What is a Business Improvement District (BID)?


A BID is a locally governed special district that provides enhanced services and investments, beyond what the city provides.

1. PROPERTY OWNERS COLLECTIVELY INVEST. Property owners in the district contribute through a special assessment to fund enhanced services, improvements and programs that benefit the neighborhood.
2. BID FUNDS STAY IN THE DISTRICT. BID funds support priorities like enhanced safety and cleaning services, marketing, programming, business and artist support - all focused on improving the Arts District for property owners, businesses, residents and visitors.
3. LOCAL STAKEHOLDERS GUIDE THE BID. A board of property owners, business owners and residents guides the BID ensuring investments respond to the Arts District’s unique needs and priorities.

Forming the District

This site provides detailed information about the BID formation effort. Establishing the district requires the following steps:

  • Obtaining petition signatures from property owners within the district boundaries who represent more than 50% of the total assessed value of the district; and

  • City Council Public Hearing and approval.

Once formed, the BID will be governed by a board of property owners, business owners and residents who MUST BE stakeholders within the district boundaries. All of the money generated in the BID comes back to support the Las Vegas Arts District

BID Boundaries

The LV Arts District BID will encompass the area bounded roughly by:

  • E Bonneville Avenue to the north;

  • Parcels fronting Las Vegas Blvd. on the eastern side;

  • W Wyoming Avenue to the south; and

  • The railroad tracks to the west.

What will it cost property owners?

Every property will be charged a fee based upon their ASSESSED (not actual) value. Assessed value is approximately 35% of actual value. The rates vary based upon property type:

  • Commercial Owners: Pay $6.50 per $1,000 of assessed value

  • Residential Owners: Pay $3.25 per $1,000 of assessed value

Underutilized properties pay a premium on the land value only.
